Workout Inspiration ~ Tracy Anderson

I received this webisode yesterday from Tracy Anderson.  It's just what I needed to get myself off the sofa and back to working out!  My eating and workout habits have changed in the past few weeks due to vacation and going back to school and I just haven't felt energized.  I decided to make a plan and start working out six days a week again!  That's when you see big time results. I know that I'll feel better once I get my heart pumping.

Lovely Thoughts.....

Here's just a little thought that will keep me going as I begin a new school year.  Today is my first day back at work and I will be spending my day decorating and setting up my classroom.  I'm not sad that summer is over for me, but glad that it happened.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Savoring Summer ~ Spicy Guacamole

Ummmm........
I love guacamole and this recipe is sure to quench my summer lust for great food.

Post image for Spicy Guacamole

Spicy Guacamole

Yield | 6 servings

Ingredients

3 ripe avocados, halved, seeded and scooped
2 limes, juiced
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon Sriracha* (use less or more to taste)
1/2 cup diced red onion (about 1 small onion)
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced (leave some seeds in if you want to crank up the heat)
2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
1 clove garlic, minced

Directions

In a large bowl, toss the scooped avocados with the lime juice. Mash the avocados using a fork or potato masher. Add the salt, cumin, and Sriracha and mash. Fold in the onion, jalapeno, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. Let sit at room temperature for 1 hour and then serve.

Notes

-If you don’t have Sriracha, you can substitute another hot sauce or use 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
-Play around with the measurements – If you like more garlic, add more, etc.
-If you don’t like your guacamole spicy, simply omit the jalapeno and cut back on the Sriracha.
-Recipe adapted from Alton Brown

Malibu Beach House Design by Trip Haenisch

Interior designer, Trip Haenisch, has decorated homes for many celebrities including Courteney Cox's Malibu retreat.  Love all the details and of this surfer chic Malibu beach house charmer that he created.  Easy, beach-living design.

Surfer Chic Beach House

I was thrilled beyond belief when my September issue of House Beautiful arrived the other day and low & behold....there was a beautiful beach house inside! Yes, there's still time to savor the feeling of summer and everything that comes along with it....sun, sand, more sun and beautiful summer beach house design and inspiration.

This colorful beach house was inspired by the 60's California surfer chic look.  The designer, Mona Ross Berman, based the hues for the home starting with the retro stripes in the dining room table.  How fun is that!  Click here to read the interview with the designer.

House Beautiful
Berman based her palette on the orange, yellow, turquoise, and white tabletop. "In a summer home you have greater license to have fun, be irreverent. The 'surfer' part is a laid-back feeling. The 'chic' is taking all those elements and distilling them in a new way."

I love this home.....it's fun, vibrant and chic!

Chic Surf Shack

This charming little surf shack is located in Newport Beach, California.  The homeowners wanted their guests to sit back and relax when visiting the shack, so they upholstered much of the furniture in comfortable, rich vibrant fabrics and batik prints. I think this shack provides great ideas for small spaces.
